Rush to get your Sugar Rush-This weekend at the OC Fairgrounds!

By Kelly Mitchell

Do you or someone you know have a serious sweet tooth?  It’s time to get a head start on your holiday SUGAR RUSH! If you are going to let loose a little and indulge (as we all should every now and then), you might as well make it worth it with quality desserts. My kids are a couple of sugarholics who never turn down a treat, so we will be heading to SUGAR RUSH this Saturday and Sunday, December 5 and 6, at the OC Fair & Event Center in Costa Mesa.

This one-of-a-kind sweet shoppe experience will be packed with entertainment, chef competitions, demonstrations, and tastings of delicious sweet treats and shopping from some of the best pastry chefs and confectioners in Southern California. If you feel guilty about eating so many sweets, you can feel good about the fact that a portion of the event’s proceeds benefit local non-profit organizations, Share Our Selves and Festival of Children.

Are you competitive? Think you have the “sweet stuff” to win some cash? There are some contests you can enter to show off your tasty talents! “A Cookie, an Artist & a Cause” is the friendly rivalry of talented pastry artists in an all out battle for the top sugar cookie art display. Or you can enter your cookie into the Sugar Rush “Cookie Bake-Off”. The winners of each of these competitions will receive $250 CASH!

Some of the amazing dessert artisans will include Gelato Paradiso, Paloma’s Paletas, Sandy Candy, Sugar Spin, Nifty Candy, Dunkin’ Donuts, Sweets Indeed, Treated (Torched S’mores), Drunken Cake Pops, Classic Cake Decorations, Sunmerry Bakery, Viva Los Cupcakes, Unbaked, Meringue Bake Shop, Front Porch Pops, Gina’s Cuisine, Light & Healthy Desserts, Orange Clementine, Gourmet Banzai Jerky, Joe’s Italian Ice, Stuffed, Paige’s Cakepops and many more.
